06      Where Were You...

..on September 11th, two thousand and one?

That morning I just woke up and turned on the television right away, which was pretty unusual. I normally jumped out of the bed and went straight to the bathroom but that day, the TV was the first thing on my mind — for some reason. The last channel was still on. It was the news. I saw two towers — one with smoke coming out of it and the other one, oh no! An airplane was going toward its direction.

At first I was not aware what those two towers were, where their locations at, what was happening. It was early. It was approximately at 9:03 AM, the second tower was hit (source). After I read the headline, I just realized that it was happening here, minutes away from where I lived.

I was shocked. It was insane. I could not believe my eyes. I started calling everyone. Sure enough, the phone connection was busy the whole entire time I tried. An acquaintance told me that his friend who worked at one of the two towers was trapped there. We were mourning. We still are. The city was mourning. It still is.

Where were you on September 11th, 2001?
