27      Reality Show

Call me a schmuck but I am one of the very few people who has been following the TV show called Paradise Hotel. The show itself has not been getting any public attention, be it in a gossip column nor a newspaper article. Very sad fact. Some say it is because the show is totally set up by the producer hence no reality whatsoever involved. Why is it categorized as a reality show? It is a reality show that is not quite real.

CharlaOut of curiousity, the season finale will be on Wednesday, October 1. Thank God! Finally I can get out of this misery of watching it. You know how once you start watching a TV series then you cannot get out of it and you just have to keep on watching. This is how I feel about the Paradise Hotel, where everybody has issues after issues because they are staying in a beautiful hotel, not having to work or pay the bills yet they still have time to whine. Out of all the guests, I like Charla the best. Then again, I digress.

So, back to the discussion on reality shows, I declare myself a victim. Starting from my first reality show, ‘Joe Millionaire’ that attracted over 33 million viewers for its season finale. Then there were ‘Big Brother’, ‘The Bachelor’, ‘The Bachelorette’, ‘Temptation Island’, ‘Survivor’, ‘Road Rules’ and ‘Real World’. What is up with that? Although I would not mind being one of the participants of ‘Real World’, if I were chosen. I looks fun, at least they get to travel to a certain place and chill.

One of the similarity of the reality shows is the drama. There are always people argue over silly stuff like who is going to be booted off out of the show or who backstabs who or who has it with who. It is insane. As if our own problem was not enough. As if their problems were more important. As if I had all the time in my hand to follow all these reality shows.

In other words, if you still have a chance and have not gotten yourself into this kind of addiction, run, save your life. Don’t make the same mistake as I did. Although it can be fun to have that certain je ne sais quoi.
